A Letter for Gerard…

by Daniel Lewis

Dear Gerard Smith,

It’s been two years since you passed.

Some days it feels like two minutes ago. Other days it feels like a lifetime.

Truthfully, speaking about you — and about losing you — is something I still haven’t fully come to terms with. It’s a difficult subject for me, for reasons only a small few truly know.

But as two years have passed, I wanted to share two things that have stayed with me since.

This too shall pass.

A cliché, maybe — but it’s true. Every storm eventually gives way to a rainbow.

And this one you lived by:

Don’t worry about what people think of you. And if they are thinking about you — make sure you give them a good show.

I hope you’re waxing lyrical on the other side and still dancing like only you could.

Onwards. Always.
